One point of concern for expectant mothers in the UAE is maternity insurance cover. This contains OB-GYN consultations, essential ultrasound scans, doctor appointments and medical testing along with hospital stay. Without an effective Maternity Insurance Cover, this is a heavy expense to take on.

UAE Maternity Insurance Cover

The Dubai Health Insurance Law No. 11 of 2013 makes it compulsory for employers to extend health insurance with combined maternity benefits to their staff.

It is important to assess this option in advance.

What is the Waiting Period?

Many Insurance companies enforce a delay period of 6 to 12 months before allowing a claim on a current maternity insurance cover. They follow this approach to prevent the loss of money by paying instant claims and providing a free maternity insurance cover. With the rising competition in the insurance industry, most companies have selected to skip the waiting period.

UAE offers an array of health insurance maternity plans with a different range of coverage for the maternity insurance cover. The standardized policy of maternity insurance cover contains the following:

The insurance company gives prior approval or provides the claim within the 24 hours of emergency treatment.
